After studying humanities, economics and social sciences, Therese Bauer worked in the field of public relations and public affairs for many years. As an independent consultant, she became increasingly involved in science. She took on various roles and worked as a researcher, in science marketing and in information dissemination at both national and EU level. Assignments as a communications trainer in large corporations made her curious about new training areas. This led to her holding workshops for marginalized young people and the long-term unemployed. This experience gave her the opportunity to compare theoretical research with practical experience for the first time. However, the actual combination of socio-cultural engagement with academic work only came about when she took over the renowned Vienna Academic Press in 2023. Around this time, the term “artificial intelligence” became widely known through the introduction of Chat GPT.
